Hello yogis! I hope you’re all having a beautiful new year. I wanted to let you know the details of a yoga + writing retreat that I am cohosting in Tuscany with my friend, teacher, and retreat partner Emily Shapiro. We’re returning to Tenuta San Carlo, a woman-owned working organic farm in Maremma, Tuscany, from Sept. 5-11, 2022.
We’ve been hosting a retreat at Tenuta San Carlo for the last few years (with the exception of 2020, boo) and it’s hard to overstate how magical it is. The farm is owned by our dear friend Ariane Lotti, who we met on our retreat in Costa Rica. It’s a real, working farm, complete with sprawling rice fields, very cute animals, and the daily hum of farm life — in other words, not a typical tourist experience. It’s in Maremma, a less touristy area of Tuscany, and there’s even a nearby beach you can walk, jog, or bike to. We eat incredibly well, with all of the food and wine coming from within a few kilometers (and much of it coming from the farm itself). I know it’s a little hokey to talk about the “energy” of a place, but this is a yoga newsletter so I’m going to take some liberties: this place has a really special, warm energy. Every retreat we’ve done at Tenuta San Carlo has been pure magic, and the people who joined have stayed in touch long after the retreat’s end.
