Inside the farmhouse at Tenuta San Carlo in Tuscany
Hello writers and yogis,
If you’re in the northern hemisphere, happy spring! I just returned from five weeks overseas (Kenya + South Africa) to upstate New York in full bloom. I love this time of year, when the days are longer, the trees are budding, and we collectively begin to shake off the winter cold (even though this week is… rainy and cold). Seasonal transitions also vest in the body, and it’s been nice to feel myself waking up earlier, and finding that I crave both early-morning movement and brighter, fresher foods, just as the world outside my door supports exactly that.
As spring midwifes our collective reemergence into a world of sunshine and socializing, I’m having a lot of fun hosting spring retreats, and planning upcoming ones. The loveliest people come on these adventures, and it’s been such a thrill to make new friends as an adult, and to meet such interesting people from all around the world in places that are so special to me.
If spring also has you craving new adventures and new connections, there’s still space open in two retreats this year, although they’re filling up fast. I have one spot left for my storytelling + yoga retreat in South Africa this October, which I’m hosting alongside my friend Nichole Sobecki, a National Geographic photographer who will lead photo workshops on the retreat. We’ll go from Cape Town to the Cape Winelands to a very cool safari camp, and will eat incredible food and drink great wine along the way. And there are a few spots left for writing + yoga in Tuscany with my friend and yoga teacher Emily Shapiro. The Tuscany retreat is one we do every year because it is just truly the most magical. We hold it at a woman-owned organic farm in a not-very-touristy part of Tuscany, and have some of the best chefs in the region on the farm cooking with all local ingredients. There’s a wine tasting and a cheese tasting and a beach you can ride your bike to, and this farm is just one of my favorite places on earth. I don’t quite have the right words for it, but, to put it in Yoga Girl terms, it has really beautiful energy.
If either of these appeal, hit reply to this email, as I expect them to fill up in the next few weeks.
I hope you’re all enjoying your spring (or your fall if you’re south of the equator), and that I see you somewhere in the world soon.
xx Jill
